Andrew York, Guitar

Andrew York is a GRAMMY award winner, an internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer, and founder of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

His compositions blend the styles of ancient eras with modern musical directions, creating music that is at once vital, multi-leveled, and accessible. York crosses over stylistic boundaries—besides his classical work, he also has an extensive background as a jazz guitarist. Check out some of his music on YouTube here.

York is visiting UC Santa Cruz to present a three hour masterclass for soloists and ensembles of the Music Department, and then he will bring his talent to the Recital Hall stage in a free performance open to the community.
