Banana Slug Share: Evening cello: Bach and Beyond
Move into the evening with a half-hour of solo cello: UCSC music alum Roger Lebow playing Bach and related surprises.
Cellist Roger Lebow (Porter, ‘71) was a member of the UC Santa Cruz Symphony during its first three years. After that all bets were off, and he went on to a performing career in Los Angeles that embraced orchestral, solo and chamber music, as well as playing on a couple of hundred motion picture soundtracks. He played in the pit for LA Opera for over 30 years, was the cello teacher at Pomona College and was a member of the well-known contemporary music group Xtet. Lebow made international tours with the LA Chamber Orchestra, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Philadelphia String Quartet. He has chamber music recordings on the Delos, New World, Water Lily Acoustics, Spectral Harmonies and Albany labels.
