Banana Slug Share: Papier-Mache Workshop
Come explore Kim Baise's easy step-by-step paper mache sculpture class. Learn how to create your very own sculptures using recycled materials. Make art to adorn walls, display on shelves, use as hanging ornaments or construct a mobile. A list of supplies will be provided for this course when you sign up so that you can start collecting in advance. Most of these supplies can already be found in your home! Kim will inspire you with several sample models and explain how they are made to get you started. It's up to you, the sky's the limit! Creative individuality is encouraged here and all ages are welcome.
Kim Baise (Cowell, '92) is a Los Angeles - based artist who works primarily in papier-mache and organic and repurposed materials. She is a UCSC Alumni who received her BA in printmaking and sculpture and MA in Studio Arts from NYU. Her mobile constructions and figurative assemblages embody the fresh energy of her mark making with bright colors and bold shapes.
