Center for Entrepreneurship 3rd Annual Business Design Showcase

This festive event connects the community with UCSC student entrepreneurs who have been developing business concepts, prototypes, and business plans. The afternoon includes networking, meeting the students, and hearing their business pitches; a keynote address by UCSC Trustee and alumnus Dr. Brandon Allgood (PhD Computational Physics 2005), CTO at Numerate, Inc.; and light refreshments.

Trustee Dr. Allgood currently manages the software engineering team at Numerate and is responsible for its technology platform. He has authored scientific publications in astrophysics, solid-state physics, and computational biology. He brings an in-depth understanding of all aspects of building a start-up, including technology, fund raising, business model development, sales, marketing, negotiations, and government relations.

An experienced panel of entrepreneur judges will award prizes to the top student teams, and everyone in attendance will vote for the People's Choice Award. In total $10,000 will be awarded to student teams.

Among the highlights, the event features:
