Dean Celine and the Arts Division welcome students, faculty, staff, and the general community to a salon-style gathering presenting the work of UC Santa Cruz's History of Art and Visual Culture (HAVC) Department.
HAVC Ph.D. students Aaron Mulenga and Connie Zheng will discuss the relation between their doctoral research and their fine art practice. Working in painting and sculpture, video and film, they navigate different worlds of production and reception. What are some of the challenges? What are some of the creative possibilities and intellectual intersections? Brief presentations on their scholarly and creative work will be followed by a discussion between the artists and with the audience moderated by Professor Jennifer Gonzalez.
The event will take place outdoors by the Porter Koi Pond and upstairs in Porter D245. Light refreshments will be served.
