Faculty & Staff Wellness Program: Know Your Micro(Nutrients) Part 1: Vitamins and Minerals

Micronutrients are classified as substances we get from our food in smaller amounts- namely vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Although we need these compounds in small (micro) amounts, they must be obtained through diet, as our bodies cannot manufacture them, (with a few exceptions). An adequate intake of all micronutrients is essential for optimal health, and vitamin and mineral plays a specific role for your body. In today’s fast-paced world, many of these micronutrients are becoming harder to obtain, stemming from issues such as a limited diet, and the fact that soils themselves are less mineral rich than they used to be. Learn how to maximized your micronutrient intake and what vitamins and minerals are the most common deficiencies.

This workshop will be presented by Madia Jamgochian. Madia graduated from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition in 2013 after completing her BA in Environmental Studies and Exercise Sports Science at UCSB. Shortly after, she started her personal consulting business My Healing Habits. She enjoys educating on how to heal inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, and believes in the food-as-medicine approach.

Please note this meeting will be recorded.
