The Emeriti Association Presents the Fall 2021 Emeriti Lecture with Ruth Solomon.

Professor Emerita Ruth Solomon—modern dance choreographer, performer, teacher of dance technique, and director of UCSC’s dance program from 1970 to 1997—will reflect on how her progression influenced the dance program’s direction. She will also discuss her time spent as a practitioner and researcher in the field of dance medicine and science. Beginning in 1980, Solomon spent 39 consecutive years of 3-month “residencies” in the Division of Sports Medicine at Harvard Medical School under the direction of Dr. Lyle Micheli, one of the country’s foremost exponents of dance medicine.  In collaboration with Dr. Micheli, Solomon authored numerous books and articles. She will summarize some of her studies of injuries sustained by dancers.
