About this Event
View map Free EventPresented by the Indian Student Association, a student-led organization at UC Santa Cruz.
This production aims to highlight the talent of different organizations on the campus that represent Indian culture while also giving students in the community the opportunity to perform. The aim is to strengthen the connection with and amongst community, while also providing a show that South Asian students can connect to, no matter where they identify themselves from in India.
Three students are in a South Asian Studies Class (SAS 101) together. These students are from different parts of India with their own knowledge of different traditions and cultural norms. Disgruntled by the fact that they haven’t spent much time discussing their culture in class, the students take their newfound friendship and decide to go to a museum that is displaying South Asian artifacts. They stay a bit too late and the museum closes, trapping the students inside. The closing of the museum initiates the exhibits coming to life in the form of spiritual performances.
Audiences are invited to join and follow the students in their journey of experiencing India’s rich cultural history.
Meet the cast, crew, and organizers in the lobby after the performance, and enjoy complimentary refreshments, including Samosas and Gulab Jabun.
