Learn small steps you can take to speak up for science!

On Friday March 14th at 10AM, the Genomics Institute DEI Committee is hosting a virtual community event to talk about how and why to communicate the importance of science research with non-experts: “Tell Your Grandma About Your Research.”

Telling your relatives (and strangers!) about your research might not seem important, but collectively small actions can have a huge impact. Your grandma may hate taxes, but she loves you, which means you’re uniquely qualified to change her mind about how important federal science funding is!

This event will begin with a 15-20 minute presentation from our Communications Director Rose Miyatsu, followed by small breakout sessions and then a broader community discussion. The goal is to empower even the most shy among us to make a small difference in shaping public perceptions, but we also hope our more experienced science communicators will join in and share their perspectives! Open to all.
