How the words and phrases you say and use matter: Inclusive language in a time of constant uncertainty," presented by Dr. Teresa Maria Linda Scholz, Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Description: Sometimes, the unintended meanings we communicate result from our very intention to be inclusive. Unfortunately, we can convey the opposite, and inadvertently perpetuate a “sameness” discourse that is exclusionary. This Zoom presentation is designed to assist us with thinking about the language we use in an effort to work more effectively toward inclusive practices in resilience work.

Co-sponsored by: the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Radical Resilience initiative, a new campus-wide effort to promote mental health and wellbeing through a social justice lens. This new initiative is a collaborative effort overseen by a working group of staff, faculty, and students, in partnership with the Healthy Campus Network and the Student Health Center.
