The Right Livelihood Center (RLC) was created to link the activism of the Right Livelihood Award Laureates with the research, teaching, and service of universities. In 2013, UC Santa Cruz became the first RLC campus in North America, joining campuses in Bangkok/Thailand, Bonn/Germany, Córdoba/Argentina, Lund/Sweden, Mumbai/India, Port Harcourt/Nigeria, Valdivia/Chile, and Zurich/Switzerland.
